What is the purpose of this notice?

This privacy notice sets out how James Cargo Services LTD, will collect and use data about you in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) effective 25th May 2018. We aim to provide you with information about why and how we collect your data and about the rights you have over your data. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement. This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time, so you may want to check it each time you provide personal data to us.

Who are we?

James Cargo Services LTD will be known as the ‘controller’ of the personal data you provide to us. We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Security

We are a UK based company and store all data within the UK. To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure information we collect.

What we collect

We may collect the following information:

  • Email address and phone number
  • Name and job title
  • Contact information including email address
  • Other information relevant to customer surveys and/or offers
  • Certain biometric data such passports or other identification
  • Financial information for payments such as debit/credit card details

Why we need it?

We only ever use your personal data with your consent or where it is necessary and only for the purpose or purposes it was collected for (or closely related purposes). In most cases the purpose will be for the performance of a contract or to enter into a contract.

We may also process personal information for certain legitimate business purposes, which include some or all the following:

  • Internal record keeping.
  • To comply with a legal duty.
  • For our own (or third party’s) lawful interests, provided your rights don’t override these.

What we don't do with the information we gather

  • We do not sell or pass on any of your data to 3rd parties.

  • We do not store data that identifies you for longer than it is required to provide our services to you.

Who will it be shared with?

We may provide your personal data to our suppliers and service providers, who provide certain business services for us and act as "processors" of your personal data on our behalf. We may also share your data with relevant government authorities where necessary to complete the service we have undertaken to provide for you.

In addition, we may disclose your personal data if we are under a duty to do so in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to protect the rights, property, or safety, of our business, our customers or others. Transferring your information outside the EU

As part of the services offered to you, the information which you provide to us may be transferred to countries outside of the European Union (EU). If, in order to fulfil our contract with you we transfer your information outside of the EU, we will take steps to ensure that appropriate security measures are taken, with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected as outlined in this policy. If you use our services whilst you are outside of the EU, your information may be transferred outside the EU in order to provide you with those services.

How long we keep it

We will only use and store information for so long as it is required for the purposes it was collected. How long information will be stored depends on the information in question and what it is being used for.

We continually review what information we hold and delete what is no longer required. We never store payment card information. We will not retain your data for any longer than necessary and the longest time that we will hold your data will be seven years.

What are your rights

We want to ensure that you remain in control of your own personal data. Part of this is making sure you understand your legal rights, which are as follows:

  • Internal record keeping.
  • The right to be informed. You have the right to be provided with clear, transparent and easily understandable information about how we use your personal data and your rights. This is why we are providing you with the information in this Privacy Policy.
  • The right of access. You have the right to obtain a copy of the personal information we hold, this is known as a data subject request.
  • The right to rectification: You are entitled to have your data corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • The right to erasure: Also known as ‘the right to be forgotten’. You may request for your personal data to be deleted.
  • The right to restrict processing: You have the right to ‘Block’ or supress your data in certain circumstances.
  • The right to object: You have the right to object to or withdraw consent to your data being used for marketing or profiling.
  • The right of data portability: You have the right to obtain and reuse your personal data.

Please keep in mind that there are exceptions to the rights above and, though we will always try to respond to your satisfaction, there may be situations where we are unable to do so.
