Pet Shipping into the UK

REQUIREMENTS FOR CATS AND DOGS ENTERING THE UK UNDER THE PET TRAVEL SCHEME.

1. MICROCHIPPING

Your pet must first have an ISO microchip inserted.

2. RABIES VACCINATIONS

Your pet must be vaccinated against rabies after the microchip has been implanted.

3. BLOOD SAMPLE

Your pet must have a blood sample taken approximately 21 days after the rabies vaccination which is then sent to an EU approved laboratory. The rabies antibody / titre result should be higher than 0.50 IU/ml which proves that your pet has a strong defence level against rabies.

4. 6 MONTHS

A total of 6 months must pass from the date of the blood being drawn before the pet can enter the country under the Pet Travel Scheme.

5. PASSPORT

Once all of the above Microchip / Vaccinations and Blood sample have complied with all the rules and regulations, your vet will issue you with a passport. Flying from outside the EU into the UK, your vet will provide you with a certificate similar to the Pet passport, which must be endorsed by the appropriate competent authority (e.g. USDA, Canadian Food Inspection Agency). Along with this certificate, your pet will need to travel with supporting documents (copies of rabies vaccination records, microchip certificates and the rabies blood test chart).

6. FINAL PRE-FLIGHT TREATMENT

Your pet must be treated against ticks and tapeworm, using the appropriate treatments which are approved in the UK, no more than 48 hours, and no less than 24 hours prior to check in at airport.

**Please note that REVOLUTION is no longer approved for the use as a tick treatment in CATS from CANADA and the USA**

7. APPROVED ROUTE AND CARRIER

Your pet must travel on an approved route with an approved airline in order to comply with the pet travel scheme. List of routes and carriers are available on the DEFRA website.

Pets arriving into Heathrow are collected from the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre (map and directions on right).

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE REQUIREMENTS MAY LEAD TO DELAYS UPON ARRIVAL, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF YOUR PET GOING INTO QUARANTINE IN THE UK, OR BEING RE-EXPORTED TO THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN AT THE OWNER'S COST.
