Lowline cattle arrive at Heathrow
JCS Livestock are very proud to have assisted with the import of 10 Lowline Cattle from Canada earlier this year- the first live beef imports into the UK from Canada in over a decade.
Lowline Cattle are easy to handle, with excellent temperaments and their low weights allow unassisted calving. They are what Aberdeen Angus looked like prior to the Second World War.
The paperwork had taken over 6 months to arrange between Animal Health, the farmers involved and Stamford Livestock as well as JCS. There were new EU regulations to contend with along with health paperwork regimes, and then the Ash Cloud nearly got in the way too!
However in late April the 10 animals arrived safe and sound at the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre off of their Air Canada flight, where JCS, Animal Health and The ARC staff all leapt into action to get the heifers out, check them and get them watered and fed prior to their trip to their new home in SW Wiltshire.
As you can see from these photos, this was a high priority shipment, with a great team effort. Thanks to everyone involved.
The cows are now doing well in their new home, and have received a fair amount of attention as new arrivals in the UK.
