Pet Travel Scheme due to change in 2012

The Pet Travel Scheme is 10 years old! Time for a change?

On the 1st of March the Pet Travel Scheme celebrated a decade of bringing cats, dogs and ferrets into the UK, avoiding quarantine.  "Frodo Baggins" the pug was the first pet to travel with a pet passport ten years ago.  Since then the scheme has grown and grown, with UK owners accounting for around 60% of all pet passports.

The scheme has been shown to be a great success, with over 660,000 pets travelling on pet passports and zero cases of rabies associated with the scheme.  In 2004 the EU followed the UK's lead, introducing a similar system for member states to aid pet travel EU-wide.

JCS are proud to have helped with the import of over 21,000 pet shipments (each shipment ranging from 1 to 7 pets) over this time and we currently work with a large number of airlines at Heathrow and Manchester helping people bring their pets into the UK on the Pet Travel Scheme, including British Airways, Qantas, Emirates and Air Canada.
