Airport closures

Good news for most - All UK airports are reopened - It will take some time before normality is reinstated. Within a few days crews and aircraft should be back in the right place and not too long before delayed and offloaded cargo is winging it's way to it's destination. Tuesday 20th April 15h00

Latest update from BAA website is that airports will remain closed until further notice. The next update is expected at 21h00 however it is expected that the airports will remain closed until at least 1AM on Wednesday morning

Tuesday 20th April 08H00

Some UK Northern airports are open again with restricted and limited services. Heathrow and Gatwick remain closed until further notice. There have not yet been any firm indications as to when they may reopen. BAA website has this to say

" Flights suspended until further notice, Tuesday 20 April

We have been advised by NATS that restrictions to airspace remain in place today (Tuesday) Heathrow, Stansted and Southampton. Airspace restrictions were lifted at 07:00 at our three Scottish Airports - Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen - but with a limited programme."

Monday 19th April

The latest news is that Airports will remain closed until at least 1AM Tuesday 20th April. According to the 1PM news the volcano's eruption had diminished slightly but this morning has increased again. It is not yet known how this will affect the ash levels in the atmostphere

Friday 16th April  9AM - Live from Heathrow.

All UK airports remain closed this morning. The latest is that Heathrow and many others will remain closed at least until 1AM on Saturday 17th April.
